About the project
The Campos do Jordão Railway concession provides for investments of approximately R$ 315 million for the modernization, operation and maintenance of one of the State’s main railway tourism assets, with a focus on enhancing historical heritage and strengthening tourism in the Serra da Mantiqueira region.
The project includes the upgrading of the railway, stations and historic trains, as well as the revitalization and reopening of Parque Reino das Águas Claras, with free public access, expanding leisure and social interaction opportunities in the region.
The proposal integrates the use of the railway with new tourist experiences, combining train rides, such as the traditional steam locomotive, with outdoor activities. One of the highlights is the implementation of a tourist cycling trail along the railway route, connecting the Eugênio Lefèvre district to downtown Pindamonhangaba, focused on cycle tourism and contact with nature.
The project also provides for the implementation of visitor support structures, such as cycling trails, a BMX track, parking for tourist buses at the Campos do Jordão Gateway, and services aimed at improving the visitor experience, including food services and themed activities.
In addition, the project includes actions for the preservation of railway heritage and social initiatives, such as the offering of free educational tours for students from the region’s public school system.
