The Government of São Paulo, through the Secretariat for Investment Partnerships (SPI), will hold two public hearings next Monday (13) and Tuesday (14) to present and discuss with society the proposed concession of use of the Ibirapuera Complex and the Mário Covas Olympic Village. The project maintains free sports practice and prioritizes the strengthening of sports, while seeking to requalify and reactivate these strategic public facilities. The proposal ensures heritage preservation, infrastructure modernization and continued public use.
The in-person hearing will take place next Monday (13), at 11 a.m., at the auditorium of the São Paulo State Highway Department (DER), in São Paulo. The virtual hearing will take place on Tuesday (14), also at 11 a.m. Those interested in participating with oral remarks in the virtual hearing must register in advance through the form available at: https://pt.surveymonkey.com/r/audienciapublicaSPI0042026_virtual, by April 13, 2026, at 5 p.m.
The meetings are part of the public listening and participation process, an essential stage for improving the proposal.
The model is focused on recovering existing assets, in compliance with heritage preservation rules, and on expanding public access to sports and cultural activities. By integrating the Olympic Village, the project expands its social reach and strengthens a public policy that combines memory, inclusion and long-term sustainability.
The proposal includes the qualification and expansion of the use of areas totaling more than 260,000 m², offering sports and cultural activities, in addition to implementing services compatible with the characteristics of the spaces. Improvements in infrastructure, maintenance, safety and sustainability are also planned, as well as the implementation of a sports initiation program at the Olympic Village.
