TIC Trens will assume, this Wednesday (26), the operation and maintenance of Line 7–Rubi, which connects Palmeiras-Barra Funda Station to Jundiaí. From this point forward, the concessionaire becomes responsible for daily line operations, the renewal of existing infrastructure and implementation of future services under the TIC North Axis project.
This marks the beginning of the 30-year concession, which includes the modernization of Line 7–Rubi, the implementation of the Intercity Train (TIC) North Axis expected for 2031, and the Intermetropolitan Train (TIM), scheduled to begin in 2029. Together, the three services are expected to benefit approximately 15 million people in 11 municipalities and generate more than 10.5 thousand direct and indirect jobs, with a total investment of R$ 14.2 billion.
With 57 kilometers of track, Line 7–Rubi will serve as the operational base for all services under the concession, sharing the same railway infrastructure. Station modernization, expected to begin in May 2026, is essential for enabling connections between São Paulo and Campinas via the TIC, and between Jundiaí and Campinas via the TIM, with stops in Louveira, Vinhedo and Valinhos.
Currently, Line 7–Rubi transports around 400 thousand passengers per day and is the only rail connection between the capital and the interior of São Paulo. Its stations are: Palmeiras-Barra Funda, Água Branca, Lapa, Piqueri, Pirituba, Vila Clarice, Vila Aurora, Jaraguá, Perus, Caieiras, Franco da Rocha, Baltazar Fidélis, Francisco Morato, Botujuru, Campo Limpo Paulista, Várzea Paulista and Jundiaí.
The fleet serving Line 7–Rubi consists of 30 eight-car trains from the 9500 series.
Maintenance vehicles
TIC Trens has already acquired 21 thousand sleepers and 10 kilometers of track, stored at its maintenance yard in Lapa, São Paulo. Between December 2025 and November 2026, the first 10 kilometers of tracks and components of the permanent way will be replaced.
In the past weeks, the first six maintenance vehicles imported from China arrived at the Port of Santos, reinforcing the national fleet acquired since the contract signing—more than 40 units dedicated to operations and maintenance. The equipment includes rail grinders, road-rail pickup trucks, road forklifts, multifunctional trucks, backhoes and front loaders.
Additionally, four emergency medical response vehicles and eight motorcycles are now available for operation.
New visual identity
Line 7–Rubi trains will receive a new interior and exterior visual identity, featuring the institutional colors blue, orange and dark red. Trains will have hand straps in two sizes, providing greater stability and passenger safety, as well as improved use of space. Interior signage will also be updated.
The entire fleet is expected to be standardized by the first half of 2027.

Along with daily operations, TIC Trens is offering passengers a free program of health, wellness, culture and education activities, scheduled through 2026.
