São Paulo state government extends public consultation period for Metro Line 16–Violeta project

Suggestions and contributions may be submitted until November 24

The Government of the State of São Paulo, through the Secretariat for Partnerships and Investments (SPI), has extended until November 24 the Public Consultation period for the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project of Metro Line 16–Violeta—also known as the Parks Line. The goal is to expand dialogue with society and gather additional contributions to improve the project, which aims to connect the eastern and western zones of the capital.

With the extended deadline, interested parties will have 17 more days to submit questions and suggestions. Contributions must be sent in writing, exclusively to the email ppplinha16@sp.gov.br, using the official form available on the project’s page on the SPI website (under the “Public Hearings and Consultation” tab). Only submissions made within the deadline and with all required information completed will be considered. The consultation rules are also available on the SPI website. The extension notice was published in the State Official Gazette on Friday (Nov 7).

“The extension of the public consultation reinforces the Government of São Paulo’s commitment to maintaining open and transparent dialogue with all stakeholders. The goal is to listen to society and the sectors involved to refine the project and develop solutions that balance public interests,” said Augusto Almudin, Director of the Companhia Paulista de Parcerias (CPP).

With an estimated investment of R$ 37.5 billion, the first stage of the new line will cover 19 kilometers with 16 stations (Teodoro Sampaio, Oscar Freire, Nove de Julho, Jardim Paulista, Parque Ibirapuera, Dante Pazzanese, Ana Rosa, Parque Aclimação, Parque Independência, São Carlos, Paes de Barros, Vila Bertioga, Álvaro Ramos, Regente Feijó, Anália Franco, and Abel Ferreira). This section is expected to serve an average of 475,000 passengers per day by 2040. Line 16–Violeta will feature eight interconnections with other lines.

Public hearings
In addition to the consultation period, the public could also participate in hearings held on October 7 and 8, both in-person and online, respectively. The sessions were broadcast live and are available on the official YouTube channel of the Government of São Paulo.
