São Paulo Government Opens Public Consultation for Line 16-Violet PPP, Deadline Set for November 7

The Government of the State of São Paulo, through the Secretariat for Partnerships and Investments (SPI), is launching this Monday (October 6) a public consultation for the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project of Metro Line 16-Violet, which aims to connect the eastern and western zones of the city. The announcement was published in the State Official Gazette on Monday (10/6).

With an estimated investment of R$ 37.5 billion, the first phase of construction for the new line will cover 19 kilometers and include 16 stations (Teodoro Sampaio, Oscar Freire, Nove de Julho, Jardim Paulista, Parque Ibirapuera, Dante Pazzanese, Ana Rosa, Parque Aclimação, Parque Independência, São Carlos, Paes de Barros, Vila Bertioga, Álvaro Ramos, Regente Feijó, Anália Franco, and Abel Ferreira). In this section, the line is expected to transport an average of 475,000 passengers per day by 2040.

During the public consultation period, from October 6 to November 7, 2025, the public may submit suggestions to improve the project. Contributions must be submitted in writing, exclusively via email to ppplinha16@sp.gov.br, using the standard form available on the project page on the SPI website (under the “Public Hearings and Consultation” section). Only submissions sent within the deadline and with all required fields completed will be considered. The consultation regulations are also available on the Secretariat’s website.

Line 16 is expected to include eight interconnections:

  • Line 1-Blue at Ana Rosa station;
  • Line 2-Green at Ana Rosa and Anália Franco stations;
  • Line 4-Yellow at Oscar Freire station;
  • Line 6-Orange at São Carlos station;
  • Line 10-Turquoise at São Carlos station;
  • and future lines: Line 19-Celeste at Jardim Paulista station; Line 20-Pink at Teodoro Sampaio station; and Line 22-Brown also at Teodoro Sampaio station.


Public Hearings
Public hearings for the Line 16 – Violet project will also be held on Tuesday and Wednesday (October 7 and 8).

The public session on October 7 will be held in person at the Department of Highways (DER) Auditorium at 9:00 a.m. On October 8, the hearing will take place exclusively online at 3:00 p.m., broadcast via the official São Paulo Government YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@governosp).
