Through the Litoral Paulista Lot concession, the São Paulo state government is advancing one of the region’s most anticipated road interventions: the renovation of the bridge over the Itapanhaú River. Located at km 225 of SP-055 – Dr. Manuel Hipólito Rego Highway, in Bertioga, the structure has already received R$ 4 million in investments, reached 50% physical progress, and is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2025. After more than four decades since its inauguration, the bridge showed signs of wear and is undergoing modernization to ensure safety and better traffic conditions.
The works include restoring the foundation piles with high-strength concrete, underwater cleaning with hydro-jetting, and revitalizing the spans, in addition to structural repairs that will extend the bridge’s durability. A team of divers and specialized equipment is working on the submerged pillars, while the upper deck undergoes full maintenance, including crack treatment and structural reinforcement.
During execution, which takes place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., traffic is managed with a STOP/GO operation, reinforced signage, and flagmen to ensure flow and safety. Completion is expected in the second half of 2025, consolidating the project as a milestone for mobility and logistical development on the São Paulo coast.
Siga Fácil
Siga Fácil is the São Paulo state government’s system that replaces toll plazas with smart electronic gantries, identifying vehicles by license plates or tags, making the process faster, more efficient, and fairer. With Siga Fácil, drivers pay only for the distance traveled. Supervised by the São Paulo State Transport Agency (Artesp), the system eliminates queues and reduces accidents. It will be gradually implemented in the most recent concession projects, such as Novo Litoral Paulista, Nova Raposo, and Rota Sorocabana, as well as in existing contracts. The website sigafacil.sp.gov.br provides the gantry map, payment options, and customer service channels.
