The São Paulo Government, through the Secretariat for Investment Partnerships (SPI), will hold three in-person public hearings to discuss the concession project of the Intercity Train (TIC) West Axis—TIC Sorocaba—which will connect the city of São Paulo to Sorocaba via rail. The project is expected to receive approximately R$ 12 billion in investments. The information was published on Wednesday (14) in the State Official Gazette and is also available on the SPI website.
Three in-person hearings will be held, with live streaming on the official YouTube channel of the São Paulo State Government, in the cities of Sorocaba (May 26), São Roque (May 28), and São Paulo (May 29), all starting at 11 a.m.
No prior registration is required to attend the sessions, subject to venue capacity. Those interested in speaking may register through the form available on the SPI website or in person at the time indicated during the hearing.
In addition to participating in the hearings, the public may also contribute through a public consultation, which will open on April 30 and remain available until June 2, 2025. Suggestions must be submitted via an electronic form available in the project’s data room on the website. Participation is open to individuals and legal entities wishing to contribute to improving the project.
The Intercity Train West Axis project includes two types of services: the Express and the Local (Parador), expanding mobility options for the population. With an estimated travel time of about one hour, the new service will offer a faster and more comfortable alternative to road transport.
The proposal includes the modernization and construction of stations, acquisition of a new fleet, and integration with metropolitan train lines, the subway, and the North Axis Intercity Train. The expectation is that the TIC West will serve around 50,000 passengers per day.
The implementation of the Intercity Train West Axis is a key step toward regional integration and the development of a more modern, efficient, and safer mobility system in the State of São Paulo.
