The São Paulo State Transport Agency (Artesp) announces that the public consultation on the Paranapanema Lot concession project will end this Friday (May 10). The project is part of the São Paulo State Investment Partnership Program (PPI-SP) and foresees an investment of BRL 4.7 billion for the expansion, operation, and maintenance of 282.3 kilometers of highways, directly benefiting 13 municipalities in the southwest region of the state.
The public consultation allows the submission of suggestions regarding the project’s structuring until the aforementioned deadline. Contributions can be submitted via an online form available on Artesp’s website or by email to: paranapanema@artesp.sp.gov.br. The next stages include the launch of the bidding notice in April 2025, the auction in July 2025, and the signing of the contract in October 2025. Toll collection is expected to begin in October 2026. For more information, visit the Artesp website.
Key works planned include the duplication of 147 kilometers of highways, the construction of 29 new pedestrian overpasses, the implementation of 84 bus stops, the creation of 56 kilometers of shoulders and 13 kilometers of frontage roads, as well as 15 grade-separated interchanges and 39 at-grade crossings. The project also includes modernization of road infrastructure with LED lighting in urban areas, CCTV camera monitoring, variable message signs, wireless communication coverage, weigh stations, and ambulances for pre-hospital emergency care.
The project directly affects the municipalities of Angatuba, Bernardino de Campos, Buri, Campina do Monte Alegre, Canitar, Chavantes, Ipaussu, Itaí, Itapetininga, Ourinhos, Paranapanema, Piraju, and Tejupá.
In December 2024, the agency held three public hearings—in-person sessions in Ourinhos and Itapetininga, and a hybrid session in São Paulo. The hearings were well attended by residents, local authorities, and legislators, allowing for the submission of proposals and adjustments to the project. The initiative includes significant upgrades to highways such as Raposo Tavares (SP-270), Engenheiro Lauri Simões de Barros Highway (SP-189), Mello Peixoto Highway (SP-278), Ivens Vieira Access (SPA-204/270), and Engenheiro Edson Martins de Lara Highway (SPA-245/270).
