Concession of Line 10–Turquoise will ensure modernization, new stations, and reduced train intervals

Proposal also aims to eliminate level crossings, which will be replaced by footbridges, road viaducts, or underpasses

The ABC–Guarulhos Lot project, developed by the Government of São Paulo and qualified under the State’s Partnership Program (PPI-SP), provides for the concession of the Line 10–Turquoise urban train service to the private sector. With R$ 6 billion in planned investments, the line will become a key axis connecting the ABC region to São Paulo’s expanded central area, positively impacting the mobility of around 14 million people.

Currently, Line 10–Turquoise serves 14 stations and connects to seven lines (1–Blue, 2–Green, 3–Red, 4–Yellow, 7–Ruby, 11–Coral, and 12–Sapphire), as well as the tourist trains to Mogi das Cruzes and Paranapiacaba. With the planned improvements, the number of stations served will increase to 18, and integrated lines will rise to 11 across nine different connection points, enabling faster and more efficient transfers. In addition to the lines mentioned, Line 10–Turquoise will connect directly to Lines 6–Orange, the future Lines 16–Violet and 14–Onyx, and Line 15–Silver of the São Paulo Metro.

Among the main benefits of the project is the expansion and modernization of the railway infrastructure. Four new stations will be added: Bom Retiro, São Carlos–Parque da Mooca, ABC, and Pari (Contingency). The interval between trains will be reduced from 6 to 4.5 minutes on the stretch between Bom Retiro and Mauá. The project also aims to reduce service interruptions caused by flooding during peak summer hours and to eliminate level crossings, replacing them with pedestrian footbridges, road viaducts, or underpasses.

With the purchase of 16 new trains, Line 10 will be prepared to meet a projected average weekday demand of 552,000 passengers by 2040.

In addition, six stations will be completely rebuilt (Juventus–Mooca, Ipiranga, Utinga, Prefeito Saladino, Ribeirão Pires, and Rio Grande da Serra), four will be expanded (São Caetano, Santo André, Mauá, and Guapituba), and another four will undergo localized renovations (Brás, Luz, Tamanduateí, and Capuava). This overhaul will contribute to urban development, especially around the future ABC Station area.
