Campos do Jordão to gain new integrated tourist complex with R$ 400 million in planned investments

São Paulo State Government project will revitalize 47 kilometers of railway, stations, park, and museum; public consultation open until June 23

The Campos do Jordão region, located in the Vale do Paraíba, is preparing to welcome a new milestone in São Paulo’s tourism landscape. The Government of São Paulo, through the Secretariat for Investment Partnerships (SPI), has launched a public consultation for the concession of the Campos do Jordão Railway Tourist Complex. The project foresees R$ 400 million in private investments aimed at modernizing infrastructure and strengthening the integration of tourism in the state.

The proposal includes the revitalization of a tourist railway stretching 47 kilometers, the 38,000 m² Reino das Águas Claras Park, the Railway Memory Museum, as well as stations, workshops, and cultural assets along the route. This entire structure enhances synergy with other areas in the region that have already been granted concessions, such as the Campos do Jordão and Capivari state parks.

The project goes beyond merely restoring tracks and trains. It aims to promote sustainable tourism, preserve historical heritage, and boost the local economy by combining culture, leisure, and development.

“This project reinforces the commitment of the São Paulo State Government to the appreciation of historical heritage and the sustainable development of tourism. By integrating culture, nature, and mobility, the initiative transforms the railway into a strategic driver for the local economy, promotes regional integration, and increases the region’s appeal for new investments,” said Edgard Benozatti, CEO of the São Paulo Partnership Company (CPP).

The public consultation for the concession of the Campos do Jordão Railway Tourist Complex will remain open until June 23, 2025. During this period, citizens, companies, experts, and other interested parties may submit suggestions to help improve the project, whose public bidding notice is expected to be published in the second half of 2025.

All information about the project, technical documentation, and instructions for participating in the public consultation are available on the SPI website.
