Bill enabling the extension of Line 5-Lilac is sanctioned

The bill authorizes the contracting of up to R$ 2.72 billion. The extension will be 4.3 km long

São Paulo Government Bill 125 of 2025, which authorizes the contracting of credit operations to carry out the extension of Line 5-Lilac of the Metro to Jardim Ângela, has been sanctioned by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas. The approval of the proposal was published in the Official State Gazette on Thursday (27).

The project, estimated at R$3.4 billion, includes a 4.3 km extension between Capão Redondo and the new Jardim Ângela station, with a 3.2 km elevated track along Avenida Carlos Caldeira Filho and a 1.1 km tunnel, as well as integration with an urban bus terminal.

The initiative is part of the SP nos Trilhos (SP on Rails) program, which envisages the expansion of a thousand kilometers of rail passenger transport throughout the state. To make the work feasible, the project authorizes the contracting of up to R$2.72 billion in credit, of which R$1.7 billion can be financed by Caixa Econômica Federal, with FGTS resources under the New PAC.

When completed, the extension will allow the journey between Largo Treze and Jardim Ângela to be made in 22 minutes, directly benefiting around 56,000 passengers a day. Check it out in the Official Gazette!
