São Paulo Coastline Lot: highways receive enhanced user services and 24-hour towing assistance

Drivers have access to 8 user service centers (SAUs) and an operational fleet that includes ambulances and tow trucks

Highway users in the São Paulo Coastline Lot are already noticing the improvements and investments made since the start of the new concession. In October last year, 212 km of roads connecting municipalities in the Alto Tietê region, in Greater São Paulo, to the Baixada Santista and the Vale do Ribeira came under the management of the Novo Litoral Concessionaire. Since the start of operations, 8 user service centers (SAUs) and a full operational fleet have been made available to assist drivers, including ambulances, tow trucks, and vehicles for traffic inspection and supervision.

In the early hours of Saturday (9), Professor Jefferson Fisher received assistance from the concessionaire after his motorcycle broke down in Mongaguá. “At midnight, my motorcycle broke down and I got great support from the CNL team, who took me to a service station. I was against the concession, but from now on they have my support,” he said. The motorcyclist was able to get home safely to Praia Grande.

The concessionaire’s Operations Control Center (CCO) maintains communication with all SAUs and operational vehicles. The toll-free service line (0800 098 8855) operates 24/7, providing pre-hospital care, roadside assistance, towing, and other highway support services. The operational fleet includes 8 ambulances (6 rescue units and 2 mobile ICUs), 7 light tow trucks, 2 heavy tow trucks, 6 traffic inspection vehicles, 2 traffic supervision vehicles, 2 water trucks, 2 livestock trucks, and 1 inspection motorcycle.

The Novo Litoral consortium won the international bidding held by the Government of São Paulo in April last year to manage, for 30 years, the highways connecting municipalities in the Alto Tietê region to the Baixada Santista and the Vale do Ribeira. The contract foresees an investment of R$ 4.3 billion.

The concessionaire will be responsible for upgrading infrastructure with more than 90 km of duplications, 10 km of passing lanes, 47 km of shoulders, 73 km of bike lanes, 27 new pedestrian overpasses, and a series of safety and drainage works, generating around 24,000 direct and indirect jobs. The highways included in the concession are SP-055 (Padre Manuel da Nóbrega Highway), SP-088 (Mogi-Dutra), and SP-098 (Mogi-Bertioga), covering the municipalities of Arujá, Itaquaquecetuba, Mogi das Cruzes, Bertioga, Santos, Praia Grande, Mongaguá, Itanhaém, Peruíbe, Itariri, Pedro de Toledo, and Miracatu.
