São Paulo State Government Inaugurates Ambuitá Station on Line 8-Diamante in Itapevi

The structure received an investment of BRL 26.5 million and is expected to serve 65,000 passengers per month

The São Paulo State Government officially inaugurated the Ambuitá Station on the Line 8-Diamante of the metropolitan train network this Monday (May 5), in the municipality of Itapevi, part of the São Paulo Metropolitan Region. The station covers 3,700 square meters and received an investment of BRL 26.5 million for its construction, generating 150 direct and indirect jobs. The funding is part of the contractual investments of the concessionaire ViaMobilidade.

“The expansion of the metro-rail system is very important. There are already 32 kilometers under contract for train and metro expansion in the metropolitan region. Investing in urban mobility means investing in shorter travel times, sustainability, and quality of life for the population. The more interconnected the system is, the better it will perform,” said Governor Tarcísio de Freitas.

Also attending the ceremony were Diego Domingues, Executive Secretary of the Secretariat for Partnerships and Investments (SPI); André Isper, Director-General of the São Paulo State Transport Agency (Artesp); and Aloizio Mercadante, President of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), along with members of parliament and local authorities.

The station is expected to serve 2,100 passengers daily—about 65,000 users per month. It will primarily benefit residents of the Jardim Santa Rita, Amador Bueno, and Ambuitá neighborhoods in Itapevi. The extension of the line brings significant advantages, offering another public transportation option that connects the city to downtown São Paulo, enabling faster, safer, and more efficient commutes.

“This is another very special day. We’re talking about a BRL 26 million project that will improve transportation for around 65,000 people per month. This is part of a broader investment effort by the Government, with nearly BRL 4 billion invested over the past three years in mobility projects to improve transportation for the population. Much more quality of life for our citizens,” emphasized SPI Executive Secretary Diego Domingues.

Located on Estrada Araçariguama in Estância São Francisco, between Santa Rita and Amador Bueno stations, Ambuitá Station includes new rail lines and modern signaling and energy systems. The structure features a building providing access to two boarding platforms, each 120 meters long and 3.5 meters wide.

The investment in the station includes new tracks, updated signaling and energy systems, two boarding platforms, a bike rack, entrance hall, ticket offices, turnstiles, accessible restrooms, and an administrative area. The facility also offers full accessibility for people with disabilities or reduced mobility, including elevators, escalators, handrails, tactile flooring, and adapted restrooms.

In addition to full accessibility, the station incorporates sustainability features such as solar panels and a water reuse system.
