Consultation begins on May 5; project foresees BRL 400 million in investments for the modernization of the Tourist Complex, with a focus on tourism and regional development
The São Paulo State Secretariat for Partnerships and Investments (SPI) published in the Official Gazette on Wednesday (30) the opening of the public consultation for the concession project of the Campos do Jordão Railway Tourist Complex. The consultation will begin next Monday, May 5, and remain open until June 23, 2025.
The initiative aims to gather input from civil society, experts, companies, and other stakeholders who can contribute to improving the project’s structure. The action reinforces the São Paulo Government’s commitment to transparency, social oversight, and the enhancement of partnership projects with the private sector.
The project foresees the concession of the Campos do Jordão Railway, with estimated investments of BRL 400 million aimed at modernizing and renovating the railway line, including tracks, trains, and related equipment.
Spanning 47 kilometers, the complex includes a tourism-oriented railway, the Reino das Águas Claras Park (38,000 m²), and the Railway Heritage Museum, in addition to workshops, stations, and cultural assets that will be developed over the course of the concession.
This is an asset with high tourism potential and strong synergy with the already-conceded State Parks of Campos do Jordão and Capivari. The proposal seeks to preserve the historical heritage of the railway, promote sustainable tourism, and boost regional development through the rehabilitation and reopening of key infrastructure for local tourism and the economy.
Suggestions received during the public consultation period will be reviewed by SPI’s technical team. Based on the contributions, the studies may be adjusted before the public notice is published, expected in the second half of 2025.
All information about the project, technical documentation, and guidelines for participating in the public consultation will be available on the SPI website starting May 5
