Concession of Lines 11, 12 and 13 will create more than 15,000 jobs in São Paulo

With an estimated investment of R$14.3 billion, the project aims to modernize the railway infrastructure, improve urban mobility and boost the state's economic growth

The Government of São Paulo, through the Secretariat for Investment Partnerships (SPI), is making progress in creating job opportunities with the concession of Lines 11-Coral, 12-Safira and 13-Jade of urban trains. The project foresees investments of R$14.3 billion over 25 years, including the construction of new stations and the expansion of the lines, and the generation of more than 15,000 direct and indirect jobs, boosting the rail sector and the regional economy.

The concession will have a direct impact on the job market, creating positions in various areas, such as construction, maintenance and railway operation. During the works, thousands of professionals will be hired to work on expanding the infrastructure, refurbishing stations and modernizing the systems. Once the lines are fully operational, new jobs will open up for the management and maintenance of the services, guaranteeing long-term employment.

In addition to the impact on job creation, the project will stimulate economic growth by strengthening the rail sector’s production chain. Suppliers of equipment, materials and services will benefit from the investments, generating more opportunities and boosting the local economy.

Improvements in transportation will also benefit workers and students, reducing commuting times and increasing access to professional and educational opportunities. The expansion of Line 13-Jade to Bonsucesso, for example, will directly benefit more than 200,000 residents of Guarulhos, facilitating access to the International Airport and the center of São Paulo.

The project includes the construction of eight new stations, the refurbishment of another 24 and the total reconstruction of four, as well as the extension of more than 25 km of track. Line 11-Coral will be extended to César de Sousa Station, with four new stations. Line 12-Safira will reach Suzano, ensuring more connections and new job opportunities. Line 13-Jade will be extended to Gabriela Mistral and Bonsucesso, meeting a long-standing demand from the population.

With these changes, the expectation is that the three lines will together carry around 1.3 million passengers a day on average by 2040, guaranteeing a better quality of life, access to the job market and economic development for the entire São Paulo Metropolitan Region.
